Since you're here, I'll take that as asking. I head UX/UI at Startsmile Agency: five big projects, all for dental clinics. My first degree is in translation, so I read tasks to the very end. Even other people's, if needed.

Websites, services and apps. I work with design systems and UI kits, and I always start with one question: “What don’t you like right now?”

Logo, colour, type and the rules that make a brand recognisable – on a website and on a badge.

Programmes, badges, photo zones, awards. Most recently – Top Tour, a conference for 400+ guests, made as a team.

Competitors, interviews, CJM, JTBD, hypotheses, A/B tests. I love digging in: dig first, draw second.

I make sure everything that leaves our team looks like it came from one hand. Sometimes there are lots of edits, sometimes none.

– ABOUT

14 years ago I took bus 21 to art school and spent the whole ride staring out the window. Never finished art school. Never stopped looking.

I opened Photoshop and Clip Studio as a kid and never closed them. Then came a translation degree, but I really went into design while standing behind a counter selling 5,000-rouble shampoo. For three years I worked two days on, two days off and studied on my days off, then six months non-stop. Since April 2025 I’ve been heading UX/UI at Startsmile Agency. Colleagues say: “Our Katya is the bomb.” I don’t argue.

A course project: weather built right into your route, so you know in advance whether to grab an umbrella. Six of ten hypotheses held up. Later a similar feature appeared in Maps itself – a coincidence, but a nice one.

A good old client we needed to keep happy. I made seven homepage concepts, and we put one together from the best blocks. The site is built and live.

My first commercial project. Private flight search: in an A/B test the familiar search bar won 8 questions out of 9 – and the client still picked the other option. I’d do it differently today, but this is where it all began.

Brief, audience, competitors, references. I ask a lot and listen carefully.

I offer plenty – both beautiful and practical. I prioritise problems and hypotheses with ICE or RICE, not on a whim.

Once a client brought in a layout made in ChatGPT and said it was better. We showed ours – they picked ours.

Proper layer names, a UI kit, a design system and docs: how the layout breathes and what to do if something breaks.
